Samsung Medison, a South Korean maker of diagnostic ultrasound systems affiliated with Samsung Electronics, unveiled its HERA Z10 premium obstetrics and gynecology ultrasound at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) congress in London, held September 4–7, 2026. The launch broadens the company’s high-end HERA Z series—previously anchored by the flagship HERA Z20—and targets growing demand for AI-enabled imaging and workflow support in women’s health, including high-risk pregnancies.
In obstetric ultrasound, priorities are shifting from simply visualizing the fetus to identifying maternal–fetal risk factors with precision and helping clinicians make consistent, timely assessments. As advanced maternal age and pregnancy complications draw greater attention, both image quality and AI-driven automation have become central points of competition. Samsung Medison is positioning the Z series as an integrated platform spanning prenatal care through women’s health and neonatal diagnostics.
The HERA Z10 inherits AI-powered clinical workflows from the HERA Z20 while applying advanced beamforming—an ultrasound signal processing technique—to deliver high-resolution imaging. By offering multiple premium systems rather than a single flagship, the company aims to give hospitals and clinics options that fit different practice environments. The lineup also includes a dedicated neonatal probe to support newborn assessments linked to prenatal findings.
AI features are focused on reducing repetitive steps and improving exam consistency. In joint research with Professors Giuseppe Rizzo and Daniele Di Mascio of Sapienza University of Rome, the Live ViewAssist™ function shortened mid-trimester detailed ultrasound exam time by up to 52%. EzStructure™, which supports key measurements, reduced manual operations by up to 71%. MV-Flow 3D provides high-resolution visualization of microvascular blood flow to observe conditions such as placenta accreta and abnormal uterine or umbilical vessels, while FibroidVue automatically segments the uterus, endometrium, and fibroids and measures each region to support diagnosis.
At ISUOG, Samsung Medison complemented product demonstrations with interactive programs, including an “ART OF ULTRASOUND” AI-based reinterpretation of fetal images and a Galaxy Tab–linked solution to review fetal growth records, signaling an effort to connect exam data with ongoing pregnancy care.
With the HERA Z10, the company plans to expand the application of AI-based diagnostic support across premium ultrasound. Kim Ji-hyun, who leads Samsung Medison’s Customer Experience team, described the system as designed to extend the HERA Z series’ clinical value to diverse care settings and to deliver tailored solutions through premium imaging and AI-driven workflows.
